Two decades later, they are reunited in New York for one fateful week as they confront notions of destiny, love, and the choices that make a life, in this heartrending modern romance. A little movie with the biggest of hearts, Past Lives heralds the arrival of playwright turned director Céline Song as a filmmaker with the brightest of futures. It’s barely believable that this is Song’s very first feature. Her film is simply sublime from start to finish.
